Almost a Tory Waterloo!
Liberal Democrats in Meon Valley are celebrating a fantastic result in the Waterloo Ward by-election. Fred Dunford overturned the Tory majority from last May of 1,311, leaving the Tories to cling on with just 48 votes in hand!
The Lib Dems won 45.9% of the vote, compared with 19.2% just four months ago.
Liz Leffman said "Although this was a fantastic result for us, I'm sure that a lot of Waterloo residents will be very disappointed that Fred didn't win. He is a fantastic candidate, local, committed and passionate about serving his community, and would be a brilliant councillor."
