I'm Liz Leffman, your prospective MP
I've been a Liberal Democrat for over 20 years. All that time, I have steadfastly believed that our country needs a radical change in political direction. Not long ago , I realised that I can play a part in creating that change, which is why I am standing for Parliament.
I have spent all my working life in business, most recently working for myself. I'd like more people like me to be in Parliament, as I believe that we need a much broader range of skills and experience among our MPs.
Here in Meon Valley, I work alongside my Lib Dem colleagues, campaigning for the things that you tell me matter to you. I'm working to get more NHS dentists, for a better bus service for our rural communities, and to prevent our area from being swamped by huge new housing estates.
Part of Meon Valley is currently in the Winchester constituency, so I'm working alongside Winchester Lib Dem MP Mark Oaten, attending surgeries, and helping with local issues wherever I can.
It's going to be a very close contest between me and the Conservatives here. If like me you believe that it is time for real change at Westminster, then I'd love to hear from you. Together, we can make a difference!

Wed 6th Jan 2010
Liz Leffman, Prospective MP for Meon Valley, and Vivian Achwal, Lib Dem Councillor for Whiteley, have slammed Hampshire County Council after yesterday's snow caused chaos on Whiteley's only access road. The Council eventually opened the bus gate on Yew Tree Drive to relieve the situation, but did not inform anyone of this move, leaving motorists stranded and many forced to walk home and abandon their cars.

"I hate to say it, but only one party leader seems to have grasped that, if you construct a system where unskilled people are worse off by taking a job than by staying on welfare, they remain trapped in poverty - and that is Nick Clegg. "
Lord Norman Tebbit
Daily Telegraph online - 13 Jan
"It's unbelievable that the Tories are still planning to cut taxes for a handful of millionaires when the majority of people across the country are feeling the squeeze. We need fair tax cuts that put money back in the pockets of ordinary people. The Tory sums simply do not stack up. It is irresponsible and highly misleading for George Osborne to continue to pretend that they do. "
